This show celebrates 49 years of dedication to art. On the last day of September, 1960, while driving back to Germany from Barcelona I had an epiphany. One can only focus on and do one’s best at what one loves and wants to do. Art was always the only activity where time and place were left behind, where freedom reigned. It was always the great dream, the dangling carrot, to be an artist. On that day a jubilant vow was put into effect; I became a professional. Well, it’s been 49 years,now, with many twists and turns, ups and downs.All very-much worth it.
The Dancers were first noticed in my art-pieces, appearing while in high-school in a small agricultural town. No real orientation, working almost blindly the ‘Experiment’ began .My little friends, the Dancers have resurfaced many times since with no regularity but always a welcome relief from some seriosity into which I’d become trapped. Always appearing a little different from their formers, and always a reminder to pay renewed attention to the pursuit of freedom, they have been life-saving! This show is celebrative of just how far my appreciation for them has brought me, today. And the grand experiment goes on, and on..
